Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What areas of Washington do you service?

A: Our electricians travel all over the Greater Eastside, to areas such as Sammamish, Bellevue, Issaquah and the Snoqualmie Valley.  We also service the North and South corridors including Maple Valley, Kent, Kirkland, Woodinville and Duvall. If you live near Seattle and need an electrician, feel free to call us to find out if we service your area: (425) 369-6122.

Q: Who is coming to my home?

A: We send only licensed electricians (commonly referred to as technicians) to your home. By sending qualified, licensed electrician, we ensure that your service needs are properly evaluated. Your electrician is up to date on electrical codes, and knows exactly what can and cannot be done.

Q: How many technicians are coming to my home?

A: One person will evaluate, consult, and perform the work. Many companies send estimators who bid the job and then an electrician to do the work later. This often results in a breakdown in communication. To ensure excellent communication and customer service, we have our customers work with one person, so their requests only need to be expressed once. This efficient system saves you time and money.

Q:  Are you licensed and bonded?

A:  We are fully licensed and bonded. All electricians are licensed in the State of Washington. As a company, we have the necessary licenses such as the State of Washington Master Business, Electrical Contractor, Administrator, various City licenses, insurance, bond and we are in good standing with the Department of Labor and Industries and related state and federal agencies. We are also members of the Better Business Bureau and are proud that we haven’t had any complaints filed with the BBB or the state.

Q:  Why do you schedule in two-hour windows and not a specific appointment time?

A:  Due to unpredictable weather and traffic patterns, a precise arrival time is difficult to determine; especially as the day progresses. It’s also difficult for our technicians to determine exactly how long each service call will be.

Once we arrive at your home, we never rush through an evaluation, nor do we rush you in making a decision. To prevent misunderstandings, we allow all aspects of a service call to be considered before our customers make a decision. Our technicians remain on site until the job is done and you're completely satisfied.

Q: How much does an electrician estimate cost?

A: For electrician pricing information, see our pricing page.

Q:  Why do I need to be home when my teenage child can let you in?

A:  All information communicated and all work completed should be witnessed by the homeowner, so it is our policy not to enter a home unless there is someone 18 years or older present.

Q: Are you a “green” electrician?

A: Our technicians have knowledge they can share about energy savings for appliances and other electrical equipment in your home. They will do everything they can to help you save money and decrease your ecological footprint.

Q:  What does sending a "Mobile Warehouse" to my home mean?

A:  Our "mobile warehouse" is, essentially, a van stocked with thousands of parts driven right to your door. The mobile warehouse allows us to be more efficient because we avoid time-wasting trips across town to obtain materials. This translates into a substantial cost savings for you.

We carry a large variety of common materials and supplies on the van, while specialty dimmers, light fixtures and small appliances are stocked in limited quantities.

Q:  What kind of training is required for an electrician to be certified by the State of Washington?

A: There are multiple certification levels for electricians. But only residential or general journeymen are permitted to perform electrical work within homes. This means that a combination of electrical theory/code requirements and on-the-job training are required. Once an application for electrical trainee is obtained, they must obtain 4,000 hours of hands-on experience. Once those hours are completed, they need to pass a test to qualify as a “residential electrician”. If an electrician would like to be certified as a “general journeyman”, he or she must complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training as well as pass another test. We employ only residential and/or general journeymen. These electricians are also required to keep up with the ever-changing electrical codes, both nationally- and state-required, by taking and passing continuing education courses every two years.

Q:  Why must I have an electrical residential/journeyman perform all of my electrical needs?  Can't I do it myself or hire a home-oriented (repair) service and be more economical?

A:  By all means, as a homeowner, you have the ability to tackle many household repairs. However, if you're going to hire help, it is in your best interest to hire a currently-licensed residential/journeyman. And, only those with an electrical contractor license are allowed to sell, perform, and be compensated. You can check with the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries to verify the person or contractor you are planning to hire has all the current licenses, insurance and/or bond necessary to do business. You can also check to see if the journeyman or contractor is in good standing.
