Portable Generators

A portable generator system is a back-up electrical system that is started manually by you. Portable generators are usually powered by gasoline, diesel, or liquid propane.  It requires manual starting, re-fueling, connection and transfer of power.

Once all components are in place, the owner manually starts the portable generator and flips on the few circuits on thel transfer panel.  When utility power is restored, you will need to manually transfer power back and turn off and disconnect the portable generator.

Which is the right emergency back-up power system for you?

Accurate Electric’s technicians will evaluate your needs and current electrical system to determine the best option for you. You’ll want to let your technician know about critical (those you need every day) and non-critical (those you can live a short time without) circuit choices.

Power can be out for a few hours or seven days or more depending on the storm and where you live. You’ll want to onsider what impacts your daily routine greatly and what you could live without for a short time.

If you meet any of the following criteria, a portable generator may be a good choice for you:

  • You desire a lower cost investment
  • You are able to move the portable generator into place during inclement weather
  • You can get by on a few critical circuits
  • You are in an area that can withstand the loud noise of a generator
  • You are able to buy fuel as needed
